Innovative Agricultural Hub

Local agriculture is a major component that sets the Coggins Conservation Project’s plan apart from standard subdivisions.  We recognize the need to preserve farmland and encourage local food systems all around our city.  Our goal is to acquire the contract from the current developers and create an active prototype on Coggins Farm™ for a different and we believe more sustainable growth model.  This model will demonstrate an innovative way to allow for development around the city while creating active farms alongside them that benefit the greater community.  When we work for this type of growth, our local food systems will continue to thrive as our city expands.

The concept is based on a movement called New Ruralism, which is active on the West coast and gaining ground around the country.  The CCP is connected with the Sustainable Agriculture Education center in California, and they are excited to help us implement New Ruralism concepts here in a way that is uniquely tailored to our region.

The Coggins Conservation Project’s model creates an Innovative Agriculture Hub.  On the Coggins Farm™, this means that throughout the mature forests, pastures and fertile bottom lands,  sustainable farming projects would work together, sharing resources with each other and providing products and services that nourish the greater community.
